“We are writing to advise you that we published a final rule in the Federal Register on August 1, 2013 at 78 FR 46499 to change the term “Mental Retardation” to “Intellectual Disability” in SSA regulations. The electronic version of the Final Rule is available in the Federal Register.

The final rule adopts, without change, the notice of proposed rule-making we published in the Federal Register on January 28, 2013 at 78 FR 5755. We are replacing the term “mental retardation” with “intellectual disability” in our Listing of Impairments that we use to evaluate claims involving mental disorders in adults and children under titles II and XVI of the Social Security Act and in other appropriate sections of our rules. This change reflects the widespread adoption of the term “intellectual disability” by Congress, government agencies, and various public and private organizations.”

Design For Communication- July 10, 2013: Gary Fustino is honored to have been selected to serve on the Ambassador’s Council Group for the St Pete Chamber. Ambassadors serve as a liaison between Chamber staff and the members, as well as representing the Chamber at various events.
